Your Website Has One Job: Generate Leads
Pop Quiz: Is Your Website Costing You Leads?
- What is your conversion rate? (table below)
- How does your website rank for its main keywords?
- Is your traffic (& revenue) growing or shrinking?
Here are some industry examples for average conversion rates:
If your website isn't generating the leads that it should, you've got a brochure not a website. The core function of a website is to generate leads.
We've "polished a lot of turds" says our Co-Founder, Corey D. Rose. "In the earlier years of Search Geeks, our primary offering was SEO. We were - and remain, very good at that. But the same problem kept arising - a low velocity of new business for clients even though we had stellar rank and click-through. The problem was these clients lacked an inspiring website."
The result? We stopped taking on clients for a 6 month period and tested several Content Management Systems (CMS) including Wordpress, Weebly, Squarespace, Wix, Webflow and a few others. We refined our conversion rate optimization and our site structure into a simple, repeatable process and tested it across these CMS systems, looking for a clear winner in both rank in Google and conversion.
For comparison, and to see which CMS might be best for you, let's look at Webflow, Wordpress and Squarespace:
The Winning Website CMS
The winner was obvious: Webflow. We now build all new websites on this technology for 3 big reasons:
- Low code. Google's index of a website is lines of code. A typical Wordpress site has 3,000 lines of code per page to get across 1,000 words of copy. A Webflow site typically has 300-500 lines of code to get across 1,000+ words of copy.
- Why this is important: One of Google's largest expenses is their data centers that store lines of code for hundreds of billions of web pages. When we reduce lines of code, we positively impact Google's bottom line - and Google rewards this.
- Airtight security. 43% of all websites use Wordpress - and if you've ever seen the backend of a Wordpress login, it seems like each time you login you get warnings to update the WP version and all the plugins. All those plugins are opportunities for vulnerability. Webflow has no plugins and the platform is airtight from a security standpoint with html, css and javascript at a minimum.
- Fast & Reliable hosting. Powered by AWS and Fastly CDN, Webflow hosting is enterprise-grade. No cPanel, no surprise downtime and no shared servers dragging your site speed down. And web hosting is only around $29/mo!
- SEO-Ready by Design. Google rewards sites that are fast, structured properly, and easy to crawl. Webflow delivers all three of these out of the box, making it easier to rank and stay there.
- Future-Proof. We can build you a site that's 100% custom and scalable without writing tons of code or exotic coding languages. Adding new offers, CTAs and landing pages are easy.

Websites Engineered to Dominate Google
Our design team leader, Scott Meader, is renowned designer and progressive developer who stays on the bleeding edge of new web technology and conversion psychology. Led by Scott's philosophy on conversion rate optimization, we've split-tested hundreds of designs over tens of millions of dollars in ad spend. The goal of A/B testing landing pages is to always refine and optimize for higher conversion. We've taken the best of the winning designs and incorporate these elements on client website builds.
Here are 4 of The 6-Points of Psychology Behind Our High-Converting Website Designs
- The Diectic Gaze - the eye naturally moves from left to right. We optimize for this by placing the right CTAs in the right place.
- Primary Effect - we're wired for "first things" memory. First things are more important than later things. Big idea? Lead with your offer, that's what they're there for.
- Social Proof - People adopt actions of others to confirm their choices are the “right choices.”
- Loss Aversion - Scared of losing something - we value not losing something more than gaining.

The Scientific Website Architecture
Websites should be easy to navigate both visually through images as well as the top navigation bar. Ultimately, the website should be a Wikipedia of sorts for your local market. This is our philosophy, and it’s not just opinion.
Helpful Content
In 2023, Google rolled out their “helpful content” update. Simply put, if you don’t reach the 80% of your market who’s not yet ready to make a buying decision, then you don’t qualify for the “buyers intent” traffic either. We make sure you don’t fall into this sandbox.
Semantic Web
Looking at the data through Google patents and algorithm updates, there is a trend they’ve been moving towards since 2012 which is referred to as the “Semantic Web.” Understanding this trajectory, we’re able to build websites scientifically for predictable growth while future-proofing their presence for the foreseeable future. Play the long game here and stay ahead of 99% of your competition.
Google Knowledge Graph
Google started understanding the relationships between entities (people, places, things) rather than matching keywords. Google seeks to better understand intent behind queries, not just literal words. This has been in the making for over a decade. Key points that must be optimized for are: topical authority, structured data, UX and engagement, real-world signals.
Building the Future-Proof Website
With the now AI-driven understanding of content, this has serious implications for website development - especially for local business websites. Here’s what it all means for modern web development:
1. Structure and Meaning Matter More Than Ever
Semantic HTML isn’t optional anymore, it’s essential. Examples are <section>, <header>, <footer> - which help Google to properly interpret each element on your page.
2. Speed and Clean Code are Critical
The Semantic Web is about delivering meaningful content efficiently.
-Bloated code (like Wordpress mentioned above) slows down performance and fogs up meaning.
-Tools like Webflow (and Astro or JAMstack - to provide some alternatives) offer a cleaner output that Google can crawl, interpret and rank faster and more accurately.
Bottom line: Google rewards lean, fast, semantically structured sites. Clean code = competitive edge.
3. UX - User Experience Design and Interaction Design are SEO Factors
Google is measuring user intent and satisfaction. This includes:
- time on site
- bounce rate
- interaction rate
- click depth
- mobile usability
- clear CTAs
- intuitive navigation
- accessible design
- fast interactions
*and a few others

These are also ranking signals. These interactions help the users accomplish what they came to do - and making Google’s customers happy (you and I who are searching for services or answers) makes Google happy. Everyone wins!
The bottom line here = our senior UX designers play a huge part of our SEO strategy. User experience is measurable and matters to Google.

Frequently Asked Questions
This is a common misconception about having your website redesigned. You’ve likely spent a significant amount of time and money on your existing website (one of our clients had $100,000 into his company website that didn’t perform). When we redesigned his site, they went from 1-2 leads/week to 1-2 leads / day (smaller volume market with huge margin). Your content is going to be either refreshed or totally rewritten. This will trigger a crawl from Google and you’ll receive a new quality score based on the content / structure etc… In every case so far, rankings and traffic - and of course LEADS have increased overnight. We will not be using a new domain, it will still be www.yourwebsite.com.
Most sites launch in 3-6 weeks. This process includes back-and-forth with your team and ours, duration is depending on the responsiveness of your team.
Great question! We are huge on extreme ownership of all your own assets - no golden handcuffs here, you own it outright. This includes your card on file for hosting (±$29/mo). You also have unlimited maintenance and website updates / changes included with Search Geeks as long as we’re working together (within reason).
Yes you can! You’ll receive explainer videos from our head of design on how to get in and update your site - it’s super user friendly.
